Ocean Kayak Life Time Warranty
At Johnson Outdoors Watercraft we believe in the quality of our products.
Johnson Outdoors Watercraft New Zealand warranties their kayaks, to the original purchaser, for the life of the kayak against defects in materials and workmanship. It’s that simple!
Exceptions
The Warranty does not cover intentional or accidental damage to the kayak through normal wear and tear, nor when used in commercial applications. The warranty also does not cover alterations to the kayak undertaken after purchase nor damage resulting from inappropriate storage, transport, or abuse / negligence in its care or handling. Please note that some plastic colours will over time fade under direct sunlight, this is normal wear and tear.
What will we do if you have an issue?
If you are the original purchaser of the kayak and there is an issue with the materials or workmanship we will, at our discretion, repair or replace the kayak at our cost. Any costs shall be limited to the consumers original purchase price for that product. So that any issues do not arise again we will need additional information regarding the kayak including the serial number, date and place of purchase and where necessary a photo of the issue etc.
What about normal wear and tear?
Naturally this is not covered by our Warranty but we can undertake most repairs to our kayaks at a very reasonable cost using the latest plastic welding techniques and utilising our trained staff. We can also offer advice on repair and maintenance of our products.
What about commercial users?
Because commercial usage is harder on the kayaks it is not possible to warranty for normal wear and tear. We will however warranty commercial grade kayaks (special production runs that increase the amount of material used in the kayaks and / or limits or upgrades the fittings used on the kayak) for a period of one year from the customers date of purchase. In the case of standard kayaks used in commercial applications we will warranty them for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase.
What about Factory 2nds and Cosmetically Blemished kayaks sold through our factory shop?
We will warranty factory 2nds for a period of 10 years from the date of first purchase for the original purchaser.
Eligibility for Warranty
Original owner must complete and return the Warranty registration within 90 days to be eligible for the Warranty.
What does the warranty apply to?
The hull and deck of any Ocean Kayak is covered the lifetime of the boat from the Consumer’s original purchase date. For accessories, the warranty coverage is one year from Consumer’s original purchase date.
When does the lifetime warranty come into effect?
The lifetime warranty came into effect from November 1st 2011, for any kayak purchased before this date please contact us and we can review your claim.
